Privacy Notice

How FrontierTrail handles information about visitors. Plain language, minimal data, no surprises.

Last updated: 2 May 2026

Who We Are

FrontierTrail is a free social entertainment platform operated from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Our contact address is 312 Stephen Avenue, Calgary, AB T2P 5H1. You can reach our privacy point of contact at [email protected].

This notice applies to all visitors of the FrontierTrail website. It describes what information we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it under applicable Canadian privacy law, including the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and, where applicable, Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Loi 25 / Law 25).

What We Collect

FrontierTrail collects the following categories of information from visitors:

Essential cookies and localStorage values: We write two values to your browser's localStorage (and a corresponding cookie as a fallback): a boolean indicating you confirmed the age gate, and a boolean indicating your cookie preference. These values are scoped to our domain and are not transmitted to any third party. They expire after 365 days. Without them, the age gate and cookie banner would re-appear on every page, which is both annoying and a breach of GDPR Article 7(3) consistency requirements for consent records.

Analytics data (aggregate only): We use anonymised server-side logs to understand how many visitors access which pages, which geographic regions they come from (country-level only), and what browser and operating system types they use. No individual visitor is identified by these logs. IP addresses are truncated before storage — the last octet is zeroed. Log records are retained for a maximum of 90 days and then permanently deleted.

Contact enquiries: If you email us, we collect the email address you send from and the content of your message. We use this solely to respond to your enquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list or share your address with any third party. Email correspondence is retained for a maximum of 12 months and then deleted, unless a legal hold applies.

What We Do Not Collect

FrontierTrail does not collect: real names, phone numbers, home addresses, payment card information, bank account details, national identification numbers, health information, or any biometric data. We do not create user accounts, so we hold no login credentials. We do not track your activity across other websites (no cross-site tracking cookies). We do not collect information about your real-money financial activity — because FrontierTrail involves no real money whatsoever.

We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or any form of behavioural tracking for marketing purposes. We do not run advertising campaigns and therefore have no need for advertising-grade data.

Third-Party Processors

We use the following third-party services that may process data on our behalf:

Google Fonts: Our site loads the Rye and Lato typefaces from Google Fonts servers. When your browser requests these files, Google receives your IP address and browser information as part of a standard HTTP request. Google's privacy policy governs that interaction: policies.google.com/privacy.

jsDelivr CDN: The Remixicon icon library is loaded from jsDelivr. The same standard HTTP request mechanism applies. jsDelivr's privacy policy is available at their website.

No other third-party services process visitor data on our behalf. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, Segment, or any similar analytics or marketing platform.

Cookies and localStorage

See our Cookie Notice for a full inventory of the cookies and localStorage values we use, including names, purposes, and expiry windows. In short: we use two strictly-necessary values (age confirmation, cookie preference) and nothing else.

How We Use the Data

The age-gate value is used to suppress the age-gate overlay on subsequent page loads, consistent with your one-time confirmation. The cookie-preference value is used to display or suppress the cookie banner. Analytics data (aggregate, anonymised) is used to understand platform usage and identify technical issues. Contact email data is used exclusively to respond to your message.

We do not use any collected data for automated decision-making, profiling, or machine learning. We do not sell, licence, or share personal information with any third party for their own commercial purposes.

Data Retention Windows

Age-gate and cookie-preference localStorage values expire after 365 days and are then deleted by your browser automatically. Server-side analytics logs are retained for a maximum of 90 days. Contact email correspondence is retained for a maximum of 12 months. We review our retention windows annually and delete earlier where there is no legitimate basis for continued retention.

Your Rights

Under PIPEDA, PIPA (Alberta), and Loi 25 (Quebec), you have the right to: know what personal information we hold about you; correct inaccurate information; withdraw consent to collection where consent is the legal basis; request deletion of your information subject to legal hold exceptions; and lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the relevant provincial authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. Given the minimal data we hold, most requests will be resolved immediately.

Security

We implement standard web security practices including HTTPS-only delivery, server-side access controls, and regular review of dependencies for known vulnerabilities. Because we hold minimal personal data, our attack surface is correspondingly small. We do not store payment data and therefore have no payment-card security obligations.

International Transfers

Our servers are located in Canada. Google Fonts and jsDelivr CDN requests may be served from servers in various jurisdictions. Where data is processed outside Canada, we rely on the equivalent protections offered by those providers' standard contractual arrangements. Given that the data involved is limited to IP addresses transmitted in standard HTTP requests, the privacy risk is low.

Changes to This Notice

We may update this Privacy Notice periodically. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Material changes will be noted in the update. We will not retroactively reduce your rights with respect to information already collected without your explicit consent.
